Port Royal Wetlands

14 acres protected in 2003

This 14-acre nature park was created in 2003 through a partnership of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and CPC. Funding for the parkland and enhancements was a result of settlement negotiations for the Federal Clean Water Act violations by a private company. The park consists of several constructed ponds and wetlands, open fields, and woods. A short nature trail allows the public to observe abundant wildlife, especially birds.

The park is open year-round to the public for passive recreation such as hiking and bird watching with a gravel parking area available for public use. There are no facilities available or motorized vehicles allowed.

Directions

The Port Royal Preserve is a stone’s throw from the interchange for the William Penn Highway (US-322/22) and Industrial Park Rd (PA-75).

From US-322/22, take exit 75 West and, immediately after the interchange, turn onto Smith Rd. In 0.1 miles turn left into a gravel parking area for the Preserve and a propane gas storage facility. Parking is available off Smith Road at the propane storage tanks. Limited access is also available from the Walker Township community park.
