Join us on April 12th to celebrate the Letort through acts of service.
Lead by our Land Stewardship Specialist/Manager Jesse Price, volunteers will be able to give back through a fun and educational native planting session. Details for volunteers are listed below:
Sign in Procedure: Everyone will be asked to sign a volunteer waiver, fill out a volunteer application (optional), everyone must fill out the volunteer sign-in sheet (name and email). All to be completed before we start.
Suggested Clothing/Gear: Long pants, sneakers or boots, comfortable clothes to work in and potentially get dirty, bring gloves if they can, bring water/snacks, bug spray, sunscreen
Potential activities: Trail maintenance (trimming vegetation, hauling brush), seed collecting, tree/shrub planting, tree shrub maintenance (weeding around previously planted trees/shrubs, plant identification (native and invasive species), invasive species removal, Habitat Creation
Safety Considerations: Ticks, Heat/Sun Exposure, Dehydration, Poison Ivy, Tripping Hazards, Broken Glass, Old Rusted Trash Debris
At the end of the event, Jesse will lead a walk around the preserve to point out and talk about areas of interest and development. Complimentary refreshments will be available for volunteers.
About the presenter: Jesse Price
Jesse Price is the Land Stewardship Specialist for Central Pennsylvania Conservancy. He leads many volunteer group sessions at our local preserves, monitors easements on behalf of CPC, and stewards the preserves to ensure wonderful experiences for all visitors. In his free time, Price is a bower, organic farmer, and enjoys spending time with his fiancé and son.
